Auki 1800 - 4 Person Outdoor Traditional Barrel Sauna

1800 × 1800 × 1900 mm | 4 Person Capacity | 4.5 kW Heater | 32 A Hardwired

Auki means “open” in Finnish—and Auki 1800 brings a more social character to the familiar barrel sauna. Designed for up to four people, it creates a relaxed outdoor setting for sharing traditional sauna with family and friends.

Inside, generous face-to-face seating and an open central space make the cabin feel comfortable and easy to share, while tea-tinted garden-facing glazing maintains a natural connection with the outdoors.

Heat-treated, knot-free walnut, integrated lighting and traditional stone-based heat give Auki 1800 a warm, refined character suited to everyday garden living.

01 · Relaxation & Stress Relief

The enveloping warmth of a traditional sauna creates a natural opportunity to slow down, unwind and step away from the demands of the day. Regular sauna sessions can become a calming ritual for relaxation, stress relief and a greater sense of wellbeing. Relaxation and stress reduction are among the most commonly reported reasons people use sauna.

02 · Mindful Time & Mental Reset

Away from screens, notifications and everyday distractions, the sauna creates uninterrupted time for quiet reflection and a slower, more intentional rhythm.

It becomes a space to disconnect from the outside world, clear the mind and make time for yourself.

03 · Healthy Circulation

As the body responds to sauna heat, blood vessels dilate, heart rate rises and circulation changes naturally with the surrounding warmth. Acute Finnish sauna studies have observed reductions in blood pressure and arterial stiffness following a sauna session.

Regular sauna bathing has also been associated with favourable cardiovascular outcomes in long-term population research.

04 · Post-Workout Recovery

After training, the enveloping heat provides a natural way to transition from physical effort into rest.

Sauna can help the body feel relaxed after exercise, ease feelings of muscle tightness and become a restorative part of a regular post-workout routine. Research has also explored post-exercise sauna use for heat adaptation and endurance-related benefits.

05 · Deep Sweating & Natural Detoxification

Traditional sauna temperatures encourage pronounced whole-body sweating as the body works naturally to regulate heat.

Sweat contains water, electrolytes and small amounts of other compounds, and studies have detected trace elements and certain environmental substances in perspiration. While the liver and kidneys remain the body’s primary detoxification systems, sweating provides an additional pathway through which some compounds can leave the body.

Beyond the physiology, the experience of deep sweating is part of the distinctive cleansing and refreshed feeling many people associate with traditional sauna.

06 · Immune System Support

Sauna heat creates a short, controlled form of physiological stress that activates a range of natural heat-response mechanisms.

Research has observed temporary changes in white blood cells and other immune-related markers following Finnish sauna exposure, supporting growing interest in the relationship between regular heat exposure and healthy immune function.

For many people, this makes sauna a natural addition to a broader routine built around recovery, resilience and long-term wellbeing.

07 · Longevity & Long-Term Wellbeing

Some of the most compelling research into Finnish sauna comes from long-term population studies.

In Finnish cohorts, more frequent sauna bathing has been associated with lower rates of cardiovascular mortality and all-cause mortality, alongside other favourable long-term health outcomes. These studies show an association rather than proving that sauna itself extends lifespan, but they have helped make regular sauna bathing an increasingly studied part of long-term healthy living.

A sauna session may last only a short part of the day, but the ritual can become something you return to for years.

08 · Traditional Finnish Sauna & Löyly

Heated sauna stones, high temperatures and the ritual of pouring water over the stones to create löyly bring the defining character of traditional Finnish sauna bathing into your own home.

The rise of steam, changing humidity and enveloping heat create an experience that cannot be reduced to temperature alone—it is a ritual of heat, water, timber and time.

01 · A Familiar Shape, Reconsidered for the Australian Garden

The barrel sauna is one of the most recognisable forms of traditional outdoor sauna design. We wanted to preserve its familiar Nordic character while reconsidering how it should belong in today’s Australian garden.

Auki 1800 was created for couples, families and friends who want traditional sauna to become part of everyday life.

Designed by our in-house product team and manufactured in our own factory, its form, proportions, seating, materials, glazing, lighting, heating and outdoor protection were developed together from the beginning.

We did not simply add premium features to a conventional barrel sauna. Every decision was made around how the sauna would actually be used and lived with.

02 · Compact in the Garden, Generous Inside

At 1800 × 1800 × 1900 mm, Auki 1800 keeps its footprint contained while providing comfortable shared space for up to four people.

Two full-length face-to-face floating benches make conversation natural while keeping the centre open.

Substantial timber boards, rather than narrow-strip seating, give the benches a more solid and refined feel.

Rather than starting with a four-person capacity claim, we shaped the interior around how people actually sit, talk and relax together.

03 · Open to the Garden, Cohesive by Design

We wanted the cabin to feel connected to the garden without feeling either enclosed or overly exposed.

The front door and glazing on both sides use 5 mm tea-tinted tempered glass, bringing natural light and garden views inside while softening direct sightlines from outside.

The warm tint complements the deeper walnut tones and black corrosion-resistant foundation beams, creating a cohesive material palette.

Curved 12-colour LED chromotherapy lighting follows the circular geometry of the barrel interior because the curve is central to the product’s identity.

By day, timber defines the curve. After dark, light does.

04 · Materials and Craftsmanship You Can See and Feel

We selected clear-grade, heat-treated, knot-free walnut for its deeper colour, refined grain and calm visual character. Heat treatment also improves dimensional stability as temperature and moisture conditions change.

For us, craftsmanship is also defined by what you do not see.

Carefully aligned joints, clean timber connections and minimal visible nail and screw heads keep attention on the walnut itself.

05 · Traditional Heat, Properly Matched to the Space

A larger heater is not automatically a better heater. What matters is how the heater, stones, glazing, ventilation and cabin volume work together.

The Orans Signature 4.5 kW sauna heater is matched to Auki 1800’s internal volume, with a 10 kg stone capacity that supports steady heat and traditional löyly.

A 32 A hardwired connection supports the standard configuration. An optional Harvia 6.0 kW sauna heater is available for greater heating output.

06 · Designed for Outdoor Life, Supported for the Long Term

The exterior timber is pre-oiled at our factory before delivery, while asphalt shingles with an additional waterproof membrane, integrated floor drainage and corrosion-resistant foundation beams help protect the sauna from long-term outdoor exposure.

Natural timber still requires ongoing care, including regular inspection and re-oiling approximately six months after installation.

For residential use, Auki is supported by a 5-year warranty on structural and heating components and a 3-year warranty on other components.

We design it. We build it. We stand behind it.
