01 · Relaxation & Stress Relief

The enveloping warmth of a traditional sauna creates a natural opportunity to slow down, unwind and step away from the demands of the day. Regular sauna sessions can become a calming ritual for relaxation, stress relief and a greater sense of wellbeing.

02 · Mindful Time & Mental Reset

Away from screens, notifications and everyday distractions, the sauna creates uninterrupted time for quiet reflection—helping you clear your mind and return to a slower, more intentional rhythm.

03 · Healthy Circulation

As the body responds to sauna heat, blood vessels dilate, heart rate rises and circulation changes naturally with the surrounding warmth. Acute Finnish sauna studies have observed reductions in blood pressure and arterial stiffness following a sauna session.

Regular sauna bathing has also been associated with favourable cardiovascular outcomes in long-term population research.

04 · Post-Workout Recovery

After training, the enveloping heat provides a natural way to transition from physical effort into rest.

Sauna can help the body feel relaxed after exercise, ease feelings of muscle tightness and become a restorative part of a regular post-workout routine. Research has also explored post-exercise sauna use for heat adaptation and endurance-related benefits.

05 · Deep Sweating & Natural Detoxification

Traditional sauna temperatures encourage pronounced whole-body sweating as the body works naturally to regulate heat.

Sweat contains water, electrolytes and small amounts of other compounds, and studies have detected trace elements and certain environmental substances in perspiration. While the liver and kidneys remain the body’s primary detoxification systems, sweating provides an additional pathway through which some compounds can leave the body.

Beyond the physiology, the experience of deep sweating is part of the distinctive cleansing and refreshed feeling many people associate with traditional sauna.

06 · Immune System Support

Sauna heat creates a short, controlled form of physiological stress that activates a range of natural heat-response mechanisms.

Research has observed temporary changes in white blood cells and other immune-related markers following Finnish sauna exposure, supporting growing interest in the relationship between regular heat exposure and healthy immune function.

For many people, this makes sauna a natural addition to a broader routine built around recovery, resilience and long-term wellbeing.

07 · Longevity & Long-Term Wellbeing

Some of the most compelling research into Finnish sauna comes from long-term population studies.

In Finnish cohorts, more frequent sauna bathing has been associated with lower rates of cardiovascular mortality and all-cause mortality, alongside other favourable long-term health outcomes. These studies show an association rather than proving that sauna itself extends lifespan, but they have helped make regular sauna bathing an increasingly studied part of long-term healthy living.

A sauna session may last only a short part of the day, but the ritual can become something you return to for years.

08 · Traditional Finnish Sauna & Löyly

Heated sauna stones, high temperatures and the ritual of pouring water over the stones to create löyly bring the defining character of traditional Finnish sauna bathing into your own home.

The rise of steam, changing humidity and enveloping heat create an experience that cannot be reduced to temperature alone—it is a ritual of heat, water, timber and time.

01 · A Tribute to Sauna in Its Most Traditional Form

Cala began with sauna in its purest and most recognisable form.

At its heart are natural timber, heated stones, high temperatures and löyly—the elements that have defined sauna bathing for generations. We did not want to surround that simplicity with unnecessary technology or decoration.

Instead, we asked how this experience could belong more naturally in today’s Australian home.

From its proportions, glazing and seating to its materials, heating and assembly systems, every part of Cala was developed around that idea.

We wanted those fundamentals to remain at the centre—simple in principle, yet complete in experience.

02 · Broad Front Glazing and an Interior Designed to Feel Open

An all-timber sauna can easily feel enclosed and visually heavy within a residential interior. We wanted Cala to feel lighter and more open.

Broad front glazing allows natural light and sightlines to pass through the cabin rather than stopping at a solid timber wall.

The fully floating bench continues this visual openness by reducing visible structure beneath the seating and revealing the space below.

From inside, the glazing softens the feeling of enclosure. From outside, it reveals the natural colour of the Canadian hemlock, the tiered seating and the craftsmanship within.

Even when Cala is not in use, its materials and interior detailing remain visible as a considered part of the surrounding space.

03 · A One-Person Sauna Proportioned for Australian Homes

Cala 1150 was created for those who want the full character of traditional sauna in a space entirely their own.

Its 1150 × 1150 mm footprint provides one person with room for a comfortable sauna ritual without asking the home to accommodate unnecessary additional space.

A 1900 mm internal clear height provides comfortable headroom while keeping the overall cabin height at 2000 mm—proportions considered for contemporary residential interiors.

Within these dimensions, the traditional Finnish two-tier bench layout preserves the natural heat variation between different seating heights, allowing the user to choose the position that feels most comfortable.

The result is not simply a smaller sauna, but a personal environment in which every part of the available space has a purpose.

04 · Canadian Hemlock, Chosen to Feel More Like Furniture Than Equipment

A sauna is a substantial object within an interior, so its material character matters.

We selected clear-grade, knot-free Canadian hemlock for its suitability in a sauna environment, warm natural tone and quiet grain.

Its soft colour sits comfortably alongside the timber, stone and neutral finishes commonly found in Australian interiors, helping Cala feel integrated rather than visually intrusive.

Wider timber boards and precise panel alignment reduce unnecessary joins and visual fragmentation, creating a calmer, more continuous surface.

Because the interior remains visible through the broad glazed frontage, every element—from the timber and joinery to the seating and craftsmanship—needs to be worth seeing.

Together, these details give Cala a furniture-like presence, allowing it to sit naturally within a room and, when appropriate, become one of its defining features.

05 · Designed for Simpler Home Sauna Installation

We do not believe owning a home sauna should begin with an unnecessarily complicated installation process.

Cala’s precision-engineered Snap-Lock assembly system helps the main wall panels align and secure into position with less reliance on screws, repeated drilling and extensive on-site fixing.

With the installation area properly prepared and the supplied instructions followed, two people can typically complete the main cabin assembly of Cala 1150 in approximately 30 minutes.

Once assembled, the Snap-Lock system sits discreetly within the structure, leaving clean, secure connections between the panels.

The hardwired electrical connection must be completed by a licensed electrician.

06 · Designed for a Private Sauna Ritual at Home

Cala 1150 was conceived as a dedicated personal retreat rather than a feature-heavy piece of equipment.

Its one-person format allows sauna to become a private daily ritual—a place to step away after work, recover after training or simply slow down without bookings, travel or interruption.

When in use, it provides a quiet setting for heat and steam. When not in use, its restrained form and material quality allow it to remain naturally within the room rather than becoming something that needs to be hidden.

This balance of personal use, thoughtful proportions and visual restraint makes Cala 1150 a sauna intended to be used regularly and seen every day.

For residential use, Cala is supported by a 5-year structural warranty, a 5-year heater warranty and a 3-year warranty on other components.

We design it. We build it. We stand behind it.
