Warm humidity helps soothe dryness around the nose and throat, making each breath feel clearer, softer and more comfortable as steam gradually fills the cabin.

Vapour 1200 was conceived as a complete two-person steam room, designed around the realities of bringing moisture-rich warmth into the home. Its compact layout, integrated water and drainage, concealed steam system, layered materials and sensory elements were developed together so that the experience could remain simple, considered and easy to live with.

01. Why We Made Home Steam Simpler

Customers told us they valued the ritual of sauna, but many preferred the softer, moisture-rich atmosphere of steam. Yet bringing that experience home usually meant creating a purpose-built room involving waterproofing, plumbing, drainage and multiple trades. The time, cost and disruption held many people back.

Vapour 1200 was our answer: a compact, self-contained alternative designed to bring steam home without the cost and installation complexity of a conventional steam-room renovation.

02. Why We Designed a Complete Self-Contained System

We integrated a 5.5 L water reservoir, 2.0 kW steam generator and self-contained drainage system with a removable collection tray directly into the unit.

Together, they provide up to 60 minutes of continuous steam per fill without requiring an external plumbing or drainage connection. The complete system operates from a standard 10 A household outlet in approved installation settings.

Timer shut-off, overheat protection and automatic low-water protection are also built into the system, making everyday operation safer and more straightforward.

03. Why We Concealed the Steam System Within the Bench

The steam generator and water reservoir needed to be integrated without reducing the usable space inside the compact cabin.

Both components are housed within the volume beneath the bench, allowing the system to perform its role without making the interior feel technical or taking space away from the people using it.

This preserves a genuine two-person layout within Vapour 1200’s compact 1200 × 1100 mm footprint. Once the door closes, attention remains on the steam, warmth and experience itself, with the equipment kept quietly out of sight.

04. Why We Built Vapour in Layers

A steam room must manage structure, warmth and moisture at the same time. We therefore selected each material according to the role it needed to perform rather than treating the cabin as a single decorative enclosure.

Clear-grade, heat-treated, knot-free pine forms the interior walls and 50 mm structural frame. Integrated insulation helps retain warmth, while engineered marble creates a durable, moisture-resistant and easy-to-maintain interior surface.

The Finnish-sourced matte-black weather-resistant coating visually unifies the exterior, frames the front glazing and gives Vapour 1200 a restrained architectural presence that sits naturally within a contemporary home.

05. Why the Front Glazing Balances Privacy and Openness

The front glazing needed to provide privacy without making the compact interior feel enclosed.

An 8 mm grey-tinted tempered glass door and matching fixed panel soften views into and out of the cabin while preserving light and a visual connection with the surrounding space.

Magnetic steam-sealing strips create a close-fitting seal around the door, helping retain steam and maintain a more consistent internal environment. The glazing therefore balances privacy, visual openness and steam performance rather than appearance alone.

06. Why We Designed More Than Heat

We never saw steam as an experience defined by temperature alone. We wanted Vapour 1200 to engage more than one sense without filling the compact interior with additional visible equipment.

Aromatherapy allows fragrance to travel naturally through the steam, while ambient lighting diffuses softly through the moisture-rich air. Fully concealed Bluetooth audio brings music, podcasts or guided sessions into the cabin without visible speakers interrupting the interior.

Time, temperature and audio are brought together through the integrated touchscreen, allowing each session to be personalised while preserving the calm and simplicity of the space.

07. Why Vapour 1200 Could Only Come from Orans

Bringing Vapour 1200 together required customer feedback, in-house product design, factory development, installation experience and Australian aftercare to work as one connected process.

Orans works directly across each of these areas, allowing us to resolve the water system, drainage, electrical requirements, internal layout and everyday operation as parts of one complete product rather than separate components assembled on site.
